Hako

IT Security And Infrastructure

Techi worked with Hako, a company with over 30 years of experience, to address critical IT challenges following two ransomware attacks in 2018. These attacks disrupted operations and exposed vulnerabilities, requiring a complete overhaul of their IT systems to restore functionality and prevent future incidents.

Hako Project Overview

Challenges:

  • Unstructured and vulnerable network systems
  • Lack of a data backup or recovery plan
  • Poor infrastructure and device management
  • No internal communication system
  • Weak connectivity between regional warehouses

Key Measures Implemented:

  • Network & Firewall: Reconfigured the network with VLAN segmentation and MAC filtering, while applying advanced firewall rules for threat prevention.
  • High Availability & Control: Introduced high-availability clustering and a Domain Controller for centralized management.
  • Data Protection: Implemented dual (local + cloud) backup systems and migrated emails to Google Workspace for safer communication.
  • Connectivity & Communication: Connected 10 warehouses through VPN tunnels and deployed an internal telephony system.
  • Automation & Device Security: Automated routine workflows, installed enterprise antivirus, and enhanced device-level protection.
  • Ongoing Support: Established 24/7 monitoring and assistance to ensure uninterrupted performance.

Outcomes:

  • Zero downtime and no security incidents since deployment
  • Stronger network protection and reliable data recovery systems
  • Improved operational efficiency through automation and centralization
  • Enhanced communication across departments and warehouses
  • Reduced costs and faster response times through optimized IT infrastructure
